Firm fined over failing to document waste disposal
A company has been fined £300 for failing to produce the correct documentation for the disposal of its waste.
The unnamed Llandovery company was issued with a notice under section 34 (5) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to produce its transfer notes, which would show who was disposing of its waste and how.
However, the firm could not produce the documents and was given a fixed penalty notice of £300.
Executive board member for the environment councillor Haydn Jones said: "Businesses have a responsibility to ensure reasonable measures are taken to dispose of their waste.
"Hopefully this fine will act as a warning to businesses in Carmarthenshire that we will prosecute those that flout the law."
In January, a vegetable processing firm was fined a total of £140,000 for allowing foul smells of rotten cabbage and egg to affect people living nearby.
Lincoln crown court heard that there had been five complaints a week to the Environment Agency over the smells coming from the HL Foods factory in October 2007.
